Bayview Street

Williamstown

Within the confines of a tight and challenging site, we sought to defy obvious constraints and work towards instilling a whimsical character for both dwellings, this resulted in a somewhat unconventional yet functional and dramatic arrangement of defined spaces.

First level living rooms are located and orientated to afford glimpses of the nearby waterfront. Northern sunlight is channeled into all internal areas through both levels via a central light court and double storey atrium. This dissects the building and offers visual connections between the upper and lower living zones.

A glazed bridge crosses the void of the atrium, linking in a playful manner, the upper living area to the sleeping quarters at the rear.
